Psalm 4

¹ Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God.   

Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

 ² How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame ?

How long will you love delusions and seek false gods ?

 ³ Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.
⁴ In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent.
⁵ Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD.

 ⁶ Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?”

Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.

⁷ You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.

⁸ I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

1 Timothy 1:12-17

The Lord’s Grace to Paul

 ¹² I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointing me to his service.
¹³ Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief.
¹⁴ The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
¹⁵ Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst.
¹⁶ But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.
¹⁷ Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
