1 John 4:7-21

Monday 13th to Sunday 19th June, 2011

Introduction

Discuss as a group that if a brother or sister in Christ goes off track with the teaching of the bible, what approach should we have.

vv. 7-8  Let us love one another.

1)    What reason is given for loving one another?

vv. 9-10  Amazing Love

2)    How has GodsŐ love for us turned His wrath from us?

3)    What does atoning sacrifice mean?

v. 11

4)    Some people are difficult to get along with, hard to love. What motivates us to love them?

v. 12

5)    How can an invisible God be seen?

vv. 13-18

6)    What three assurances does John give us to know we live in Him and He in us?

7)    How can we have confidence on the day of judgement that we are saved?

8)    Because of love we have no need to fear punishment but how does that same love motivate us to witness to those who donŐt know Jesus?

9)    Explain V19 then read Romans 5 V10

10)    In v. 20, there are some pretty strong words. Not as a group but as individuals read these verses and ask yourself are there any changes needed to be made in your life?

V21 God gives us a lot of good advice in His word but this is more than advice. What two words bring home this message?

In your spare time count how many times love or loved are used in this section of GodsŐ word.

As Christians we live a life because of our love for God. But we love our brothers and sisters because of our love from God. Explain.

Talk and pray about ways we can show our love and ways we can encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ.
