Matthew 7:21-29

Jesus and a Storm Warning – Monday 13th to Sunday 18th December, 2010

Introduction

Share with the group someone you are praying for to become a Christian. What motivates you to pray for them?

Studying the passage - Read Matthew 7:21-29

1)   According to these verses, what does it mean to call Jesus ÒLordÓ and mean it?

2)   Verse 22 talks about people who rely on miracles and prophesying to be right with God. What other outward signs of religion can we substitute for dependence on ChristÕs atoning death?

3)   God is perfectly satisfied with us because of Christ. However, discuss whether a Christian ever be satisfied with their level of obedience? (Hint: Matthew 5:3).

4)   ÒThe longer I am Christian, the more conscious I am that I am a sinner.Ó Discuss whether you would agree with this statement.

5)   What does the Ògreat crashÓ (v. 27) represent?

Response

Do you think that the world today believes in a heaven and a hell like it did in the past? Why donÕt we as a church like to talk about hell? Should we? Discuss.

Spend some time praying for your non-Christian friends and family and thanking God that Jesus has saved us from our rightful destruction.
